Last Saturday we got our Christmas tree.
The past couple of years we've gotten our tree from Home Depot. This year I was determined to find a Christmas tree farm. After a short hunt on Facebook, I found one about 20 miles or so from where we live.
It was a warm (well, warm for November in Minnesota), sunny Day. When we got to the farm, the older gentleman that runs the place greeted us and handed us a saw and offered us a sled.
We walked back into the woods a little ways and looked around for our tree.
Almost right away, I saw a nearly perfect little balsam fir. It was very uniform and quite a manageable height. Plus, the old gentleman had mentioned the balsam firs were good for holding onto their needles.
We set both kids up in the sled, and Reuben had our tree sawed down in no time. Reuben took both kids back to the car while I pulled the tree out in the sled. We strapped it onto the roof of our car and headed home to give the kids their much-needed naps.
Stay tuned for tree decorating photos!
